January 27, 2015: Sylvia D. Hamby Promoted to President of Community Bank of the South

The Board of Directors of Community Bank of the South has promoted a seasoned, local, community banker to lead the financial institution.

This week, Sylvia D. Hamby was elected President of Community Bank of the South. Sylvia, a native of Cobb County, most recently served as the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer. She will have the distinction of being the only active female bank president in Cobb County. Sylvia expressed appreciation in the trust and confidence placed in her by the Board. She also stated: “I am excited about the Bank’s future. The Bank is well-positioned to continue its growth, increase shareholder value, provide exceptional service, and give back to our communities.”

Charles J. Jones, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated: “Sylvia has been with the Bank since the inception and has played a critical role in our accomplishments and strong presence in Cobb County. We recognize her considerable contribution and look forward to her continued leadership in our future endeavors. We will look to Sylvia for the day-to-day guidance of our Bank. Lee Scroggins remains our Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors. He will continue to build relationships for the Bank and share in developing and executing the overall vision for our future.”

January 27, 2015: The Community Bank of the South’s New Mortgage Team

Community Bank of the South, headquartered in Smyrna, Georgia is pleased to announce the new mortgage team of Paige Beebe and Anna Jacobs.

"We are excited about the expansion of our Residential Mortgage Lending Division. Paige Beebe and her assistant, Anna Jacobs bring more than 22 years of a proven mortgage lending track record.  They will  help us deliver on our promise to better serve our customers and increase our array of products,” stated Sylvia D. Hamby, President of Community Bank of the South. 

Paige Beebe commented, “It is exciting to be joining a bank that is so committed to the local community and to providing customers with exceptional service and competitive rates.”
